Old Moss Fieldstone ...

Was characterized by glacial movement causing pieces to break off from large masses.  The stone was stacked and moved to central locations by settlers when clearing land for crop fields and fences for pastures.  Many stones were used as wall for boundary markers.  This stone has aged 200-500 years since it was first handled.
